Chill!

March 14, 2018

Today was a nice slow day.

I did not have to work early today so I decided to sleep in and rest up. I originally woke up at 8am because I heard my nephew crying. Since my mother is home my nephew stayed with her again. I went back to bed once I saw he was fine. Woke up around 11 feeling super refreshed but not productive. I slept my whole morning away!

For a late breakfast I had a cup of coffee with green tea sponge cake. Japanese desserts are truly remarkable. While I ate, I jumped on the computer to browse the web and see what was new. I read some blog posts, followed a few people and was inspired by many people who you can tell really enjoy uploading content.

Using the inspiration received I went on to my personal blog to figure out how WordPress truly functions. I still get confused about what I can and cannot do because I am a free user. Having a paid subscription is definitely beneficial and allows for a more extensive experience but for now I will work with what I have. In order to get a better understanding of my limits I did a lot of research. I even had to look up how to put a category on the menu. I thought it would be easier to see my journal, on the menu as My Days, as I upload more content. Simple!

While I was figuring things out I started a new show on Netflix called Dark. I am only on episode three but so far it is interesting. It is about A missing child sets four families on a frantic hunt for answers as they unearth a mind-bending mystery that spans three generations.” In the middle of reading post and watching TV I had yesterday’s leftovers for lunch, chicken stew with white rice.

Around 3:30pm I started to get ready for work. I had to be in Jersey City at 4:30 but because of traffic and GPS detours I was a bit late. The good thing was dinner did not start until about an hour later allowing me to get settled in. I even had myself an early dinner. One of my favorite dished called Bulgogi, sliced rib-eye steak over white rice.

Work was pretty slow. Understandable because of the weather but way to slow to make a profit. It was super cold out to the point where it even started to lightly snow. We packed up around 9 and left shortly after. On the way home there was a taxi driver who either was afraid of the bridge we were on or did not care about being in a lane. This person, taxi driver, left no space to pass around him on a two lane bridge slowing down everyone behind him. Horrible!

I walked through my door around 9:50pm. Grabbed some clothes, my towel and headed to the bathroom for a nice hot, steamy shower. After getting cleaned up I sat at my desk and logged onto Twitch. I stuck around for a bit and then off to bed.

Day Off!

March 13,2018

It snowed again today. Very lightly, but still enough to need a snow brush.

I woke up at 7:30am not really needing to but wanting too. Truth be told I had an ‘angle and demon on my shoulder’ moment. I could either stay sleeping and rest or wake up and get busy. The angle won.

I got out of bed grabbed my Bluetooth and headed to the bathroom. Sat down for a bit to tune in the conference and gather myself. While listening I brushed my teeth and washed my face. I looked into the mirror and said “Good Morning!

Sat in front the computer, turned everything on and opened up my browser windows. My nephew was left home with mom today. She was kicked out of work for two days because she is sick. It worked out for my sister. The original plan was for me to pick up the baby from the sitter after I ran my errands but my sister did not want to drive in the snow with him.

I left the house around 9:15. I had a busy morning and wanted to get it done early. The sooner I got home, the sooner my mother could rest. My first stop was at the bank. I had some cash put away and decided to deposit it. I always try to set aside a certain amount every week as a way to save.

The next stop was at my chiropractor’s office. In August of 2017, I hurt my back. I suffered from two herniated disks with a small crack in my spine. Thank goodness I have a great friend working in a physical therapy office, NJ Spine and Wellness. Instead of considering surgery it was recommended to fight through and develop strength through physical therapy. So, I fought!

I went 3 days a week for 3 months. Did so well that the next month was dropped down to 2 days a week. Leading to January and after only once a month for maintenance. What a journey!

I am more that grateful to have been put in their care. Truly amazing facility

The next three stops were in and out. I went to Target to get a pair of pants, deodorant, lint rollers and Yu-Gi-Ohcards. I actually did not go into Target for any of that but hey, it happens. Along the way I stopped at Dunkin Donuts for my mom and bought her breakfast – bacon, egg and cheese on a plain bagel. Making my way home I stopped at the gas station and finally getting in at 12:30pm. Pretty crazy morning!

I did take over watching my nephew while my mother slept. To be honest I think he is sick too. He has slept more today than what he did when he first popped out. I hope he is just tired because I do not feel he has a fever which is a good sign. While he slept I did post something new, click here to see, that I hope attracts a lot of people.

It is dinner time now, 9:30pm, and I was starving. In my plate sat delicious chicken stew over white rice with a side of sweet plantains. As I ate I caught up with YouTube, reviewed some product knowledge and am ending my night watching a show called “My Next Guest with David Letterman” on Netflix.

It’s Monday!

March 12, 2018

Like every week before, Monday is as smooth as well geared clocked. I woke up ay 7:30 in the morning feeling great and ready to concur. Washed up, got dressed, and had breakfast. Super simple meal, four pieces of Thomas’ Cinnamon Raisin Swirl Bread and a bottle of water. Healthy!?

I left the house at 9:15am and made my usual Monday stop at Teixeira’s Bakery. I picked up six custard cups, six hoagie rolls and two cappuccinos. It is a MUST every time I step foot in that place. I got into Jersey City with ease and parked my car at 10:30.

During my drive I started a new audiobook called “Serial Winner by Larry Weidel. It is over a five hour book and seems interesting so far. Throughout my drive I was able to listen to a little more than an hour. When I get further into the book I will leave some notes on what I took from it.

Work was slow today. We did not do much business but we were able to prep for dinner.

We packed up around 3pm and hit the road by 3:30. We made a pit stop at 99 Ranch to pick up a few things for dinner. Since I was there I picked up a couple cans of UCC Original Coffee and Japanese style Castella Sponge Cakecheese flavorI had to make the obvious stop at Coco Fresh Tea & Juice and get myself something to drink. Today I ordered vanilla milk tea with aloe chunks.

I got home around 4:30. Showered up. Then jumped on the PS4 for some R&R. I played FortNite with my best friend from Texas. I have not played the game since it came out so I was beyond rusty. We barely made it through a round.

I only gamed for about an hour and then got ready for the office. I tried a new combination of clothes today that I think looked pretty darn good. Try to picture it – medium grey chino pants, pink button up shirt, brown belt and brown wing tip shoes. The only thing missing was a nice brown watch. I do have two brown watches but one of them is not dressy and the other has a cracked band. No good!

Our company recently released a new presentation for our Business and Money Seminar. Typically, we use our own in-house presentation but the head of our office decided to try out the new one. Whether or not I will actually use it is a different story. In my opinion our old outdated presentation flows better. I will try it a few times but no guarantees it will stick.

I got home at 9:30pm and changed into some very comfortable sleep wear. Sweats and a sweat shirt. After getting comfortable I logged onto Twitch and loaded up a new Word document. Here I am now and honestly ready for bed.

Feeling Smart!

March 11, 2018

Daylight savings got me! I lost an hour of sleep!

Today is day 2 of my Series 6 class. I woke up at 6:30am, I wanted to get a head start on the day. Only it was rough to get up because of the time loss. You never really notice how losing an hour of sleep, that you cannot control, can affect you.

I got to the office exactly at 8. The Dunkin Donuts I go to rarely gets busy but this morning people were fiends for some coffee. Class started promptly and we had our ten minute breaks in between every hour. We had our lunch break and boy was I grateful for it. My stomach was like a bull on a rampage. For lunch my friend and I decided to take a trip to the mall. More options and space to relax. I had chicken noodle soup, a tuna sandwich, and papaya green tea from Panera Bread.

Class ended at 4:30pm and like yesterday I drove my colleague home. Now I must say, the class instructor was fantastic. He broke down everything in a way that a 5 year old child could understand. There were things in the book that I did not understand for the life of me but now I am confident when those questions appear.

I got home around 6. Traffic was ridiculous for a Sunday. The highways were jam packed so I took the back roads home in hopes of it being faster. It took me an extra ten minutes to get home but it was well worth it. Hassle free!

Curious about last night’s howling cats I had to do light research. Apparently cats howl for various reason from feeling anxious to being in their “heat cycle.” Who knew!?

My girlfriend came over around 7:30 to relax. She had a long day of cleaning and wanted some down time. We planned on continuing “Seven Seconds” but that derailed a bit. She ended up falling asleep, which I did not mind, within minutes of laying down. While she slept I loaded up Twitch to support my best friend while he grew his channel. He actually did a giveaway of the same game he was playing, Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet, and boosted his following. When my girlfriend did wake up, we squeezed in 20 minutes of the show before she left.

Bed time!

CATS!

March 10, 2018

Last night was crazy! There were cats, 1am, howling outside my window! I did not even know they could howl!

No matter how loud they were I surprisingly fell asleep and was able to wake up at 6:45am. I prepped my clothes last night – blue pants, blue V-neck sweater, brown belt and black boots with brown soles – that way all I had to do was jump into them. Went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and do my hair. A few minutes later I was out the door.

Recently I decided to fully get in gauged with taking my Series 6 exam, “the Investment Company and Variable Contracts Products Representative Qualification Examination (IR).” Basically, it is a state exam that will allow me to provide clients with the right savings vehicle using mutual funds and variable annuities.

The class was taught in the office I work out of which made everything very convenient. Perfect! No extra trip, no need to get lost and I was very comfortable with the environment. It is a two-day class consisting of information that fried my brain for eight hours. The class lasted from 8am – 5pm with ten minute breaks in between each hour. We were also given an hour lunch in which a friend and I ate Wendy’s.

After class, getting ready to head out, I was asked to take a colleague home. My mentor had driven him but did not stay because of our lengthy schedule. By the time we had finished todays class my mentor had been sitting with a client. Obviously, it would be unprofessional to leave so I helped out.

I got home around 5:30pm.

My sister did me a huge favor! Also taught me a lesson. Apparently, I was supposed to take medicine when I got my wisdom teeth pulled to prevent infections. I have not in 2 days. The prescription sat in my car the entire time. She was nice enough to pick it up from the pharmacy so I could start treatment when I got home. I figured I would get it when I had the chance, not knowing I should have been taking it the day of removal. Oh well!

I watched “The Lion King with my nephew as he drank his bottle. This has to be one of the best movies Disney has ever made. It brought back so many great memories and felt good to know that one day I will be sharing them with him. On the topic of cats, my alley friends from last night are back. Howling once again and I have no idea why. I tried to find out if they needed help but they ran off as I tried to “tisk tisk” my way over. Anyway, I hope they figure it out.

Good night!

Tough One…

March 9, 2018

Funday with the nephew turned out to be stressful.

I woke up like normal. 7:30am. Grabbed my Bluetooth, fixed up the bed for my nephew, and washed up. I’m missing two teeth now so according to the dentist I can’t brush today. Simple instruction, salt water and gargle.

Nephew shows up and is lively as always. We play for a bit with his stuffed elephant Peanut until he gets hungry. I get his bottle and give it to him to eat. As always, he falls asleep when he finishes and I leave him to make myself coffee and grab my laptop. I sit in front of the computer for about an hour and a half to catch up on the world. I check my WordPress account, read a few articles and open up a fresh Word document to type things out.

Unfortunately, today was like every other day. At 12pm I made a mistake. I am very cautious with my nephew because he is developing fast so I check on him A LOT. This time I didn’t check on him enough. I guess he woke up super happy because he made his way, remember he cannot crawl or walk, from the middle of a queen sized bed with pillows and blankets surrounding him…off the bed. I never thought this would happen but it did. I immediately called my sister but no answer. Thanks to mom my sister called me back within minutes.

My sister is in the medical field so using FaceTime we were able to examine him. No concussion (stayed awake for 6hrs), no broken bones (checked every inch including fingers and toes) and no bumps on his head (checked every 30 minutes for swelling). Thankfully, he was perfectly fine. About 30 minutes later he had a six ounce bottle, used the bathroom normally and played like always. I on the other hand post-panicked and cried. I think it hurt me more than him. I let him down but his smile was reassuring.

A little after 6pm, my sister got home and gave the baby a full exam herself. It is crazy how things can happen in a matter of minutes. I will not be making that mistake again.

The rest of the day the simple. I was discouraged to do anything else but monitor him. For a late lunch I had two bowls of orange flavored mashed potatoes that needed some tweaking. I wanted to try something different, wisdom teeth problems, so I decided to add orange juice to the recipe. I might just Google it next time and see if I can find something better.

For dinner my girlfriend bought me a slice of pizza which turned out to be a bad idea, again wisdom teeth problems. So, I ended up eating corn beef, not hash, with white rice and sweet plantains. The food was so soft that I basically swallowed it. Wisdom teeth victory!

I ended up crying again, this time in my lady’s arms and ended the night laid out in bed watching the Netflix series “Seven Seconds.

Notes:

I learned a lot about having a child today. It was not how I wanted to learn and wish I had not. Either way he will not be in bed alone anymore no matter how big the pillow walls are. I might even glue him to my hip.
