A Beautiful Thursday To Be Alive!

Thurs. October 25, 2018

Sleep deprived.

Last night was pretty intense. I was so tired that I woke up 6 times thinking I had overslept. Each time I woke up the first thing I did was check the time to make sure it was not time to get up for work.

Bitmoji alarm ME

Around 7:30 is when my mind decided to rest only to fight the alarm going off at 8am. When my mind and body were ready to get up it was 8:30. Getting up late left me with only half an hour to rush and leave the house.

By 9:15, a bit later than I wanted, I was on the road headed it work. Normally I leave myself with more time to drive but that was not an option today. During my drive the night I had was the only thing on my mind. I could not figure out why I woke up so many times. The only conclusion I came up with was fear. Fear that I would not wake up from the exhaustion the night before. It was a valid explanation since I have done it several times in the past.

Before meeting with the lady I work with, I stopped at Dunkin’ Donuts to get us breakfast. She had called me to let me know that she was running late due to traffic. During the conversation she mentioned she was hungry and did not have time to stop for anything. Being in the lead at this point, I thought it would be a good idea to make a quick stop. For her I got a bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant sandwich with a side of hash browns. For myself a cinnamon raisin bagel with butter. Along with that a vanilla swirl latte and Dunkaccino.

Excitement to be.

Finally making it to the location we were meeting at, I pulled right up to the front gate to check in. With a simple good morning and mention of my being there I drove off to the section of the property where we normally set up. We were at Verizon today and the moment I came around the bend where I park my car, my face lit up with joy. My favorite place to get the best chicken parmesan sandwich was there. I knew exactly what lunch was going to be.

(photo found on Google images)

From 11 to 1:30pm we were consistently busy. It was slower than normal but it was understandable due to the weather. It was about 50 degrees with strong gusts of wind. Not a good day to be outside but the people had to eat and they wanted our food.

During the end of shift I sat down and enjoyed the spoils on this job. Like I said earlier I knew what was for lunch, the best chicken parmesan I have ever had. Even better than mine, and I make a mean sandwich. To pair with it were, I believe, garlic parmesan fries. A delicious meal.

After eating we cleaned up and headed out.

Great caught and a lesson.

When I got into my town, I took a detour. I went for a small Pokémon hunt and fought a Shinx that sat high in a gym. At the moment, finding it in a gym is the only way to obtain it unless I hatch it from a 10k egg. Unfortunately, the odd of egg hatching are low so searching for gyms is easier. It is now my second one and I am excited for more to come. Honestly, I just cannot wait for the official release of all of Gen 4.

Once home I showered and then took a nap.

2 hours later I woke up feeling great. I lack sleep with how my days go so a nap makes it better. It makes me feel whole again. I watched a video that for a productive day a person needs to do 3 things:

  1. Get 7 – 9 hours of sleep each night.
  2. Stay hydrated because it helps a person think more clearly.
  3. Find a way to exercise before the day officially starts.

Knowing these three things should help me a lot. I just need to move my schedule around and get into bed sooner.

Play and practice.

After getting my body moving, for about an hour I played Call of Duty: Black of Ops 4. From there I went and turned on my iPad Pro to get in some drawing practice while “Dragon Ball” streamed in the background. That lasted until 10:30pm when I put the iPad down to continue watching the show. It was really good. Too good. I had to give it all of my attention.

My first time using the Apple Pencil

Around 11:30 is when I called it quits. I went to straight to bed where I laid there for half an hour on my phone until my eyes shut down for the night.

What An Eventful Day!

Tues. October 9, 2018

Productive morning and afternoon.

I did not wake up for the conference call today. My mind was done for. I even slept through two alarms not noticing until 8:30am when I went looking for my phone. Luckily, I did not have to be at the café today. Instead I had to meet the lady I work with around 10am for our lunch shift. The first job of the day.

Bitmoji version of Me

With the time I had, I set up two articles that interested me and saved a cool video I want to post for Saturday morning. I also got two quotes posted before having breakfast. While I ate, I watched a 5 minute video on YouTube for entertainment right before leaving the house.

At the first site we were busier than the last time being there. I assume we were too new the first time so this go around people were curious. Usually we get more interest the first day we arrive but at least people came to us.

45 minutes later we were at the second location for dinner. After driving into the apartment complex, we realized we were ahead of schedule. The place we needed to park was not available. At the time the building was receiving a series of deliveries. Since we had no space, we drove over to Mitsuwa, the best Asian market I have entered, to pick up a few things.

After filling the cart with a variety of things from fish cakes to dessert cakes, we went to have an early lunch. Ramen with a side bowl of shredded salmon over rice. It also had these weird delicious salmon juicy balls. With every bite they added a burst of flavor to the dish. I forgot what they were called, might have been salmon eggs, but it was phenomenal.

Second job of the day.

Making our way back to the complex the lady I work with basically stopped me in the middle of the road so I could get her coffee. She was really in the mood for a hot cup so I pulled over to get two, one for her and one for me, from Starbuck. I had my first Blonde since it was released. Well kind of. The lady I work with ended up getting a coffee that was too sweet so we mixed our cups together to create a new flavor. I will have to retry it one day.

Back at work, our dinner shift turned out to be a lot more intense than I expected it to be. Being at this location always keeps us on our toes but I felt as if today was a little more than normal. Since it is for dinner the orders usually consist of 2 – 5 meals per person. It makes the time go by quicker, so I like it, I just expected it to be a bit less. Either way it was good for business which is always a plus.

More money, easier life, bigger smiles.

Needed more snacks.

By 8:30pm we were done and by 9 pulling off of the premises. I had a nice 45 minute drive home. During the drive I had a very tasty pumpkin ban from our trip to Mitsuwa early. Not knowing how it would taste I only chose to take one. With my first bite I wish I had another.

Once home I played with my nephew for a bit before showering and writing this.

Working On My Nephew’s First B-Day!

Sat. October 6, 2018

What a night!

I woke up next to the most beautiful person on this Earth this morning. It was a tough one to do with my body feeling weird but I was glad to have been able to open my eyes.

I was not glad for the part when I stood up. I might have woken up a bit tipsy, a little wobbly on my feet. After recounting my night I realized why. I never truly let myself enjoy the buzz of a few drinks. I usually stop after about 3 but last night I let myself out of the cage a bit. The DJ did a really good job last keeping everyone entertained.

(photo found on Google images)

Too bad we both had to be at work early this morning. She earlier than me. We could have used the day to recover. Just a little more sleep and I think we would have been good to go for the day. No stopping us though. Work was calling along with the check attached.

Always push through!

On my way to work I stopped Dunkin’ Donuts for a little pick me up. I was groggy, sluggish and all of the above. The pumpkin spice latte I order did wonders on my mood. Because of the espresso I felt a little more life come back to me. I also stuffed my face with an order of waffle tenders and a cup of 10 munchkins. I needed to soak up whatever I had left in my system from last night before work.

Making it to the café, I was ready for nothing. If I had a blanket and pillow I might have fallen asleep on the floor. The coffee helped a little but I was still more tired than not sleeping for 2 days. But I smacked myself up and got right to it.

(photo found on Google images)

Since I was a bit sluggish for most of the day my activities consisted of me sitting down whenever I got the chance. I would serve a customer, sit, serve a customer, sit, serve a customer, wash a dish, sit…. and that went on the entire day.

I could not wait to get home!

By 8:25pm I was walking out the door on my way home in the wet mess the sky provided for this Earth. The best part of it was the discovery I made along the way. Since it was raining I decide to turn my windshield wiper on as I should. At that time I realized one of the blades were broken. Thankfully it was on the passenger’s side of the car but I was annoying to see a strip of rubber wiggle across the window.

With excitement I rushed through the door. Today is my nephew’s first birthday. One year ago the little guy was born on this wonderful planet into the lives of loving and caring individuals. Since I had to work I could not celebrate it with the family but he stayed up for me.

The love!

My girlfriend and family had already shown him a bunch of love on his special day. He was the cutest thing ever eating his banana pancakes, playing his birthday balloons and digging into his cake. I was getting pictures throughout the day of his moments.

For about half an hour I played with him. It was way past his bedtime but I had to get some time in with him. After leaving him to rest my girlfriend and I went downstairs to have a really late dinner. Domino’s Pizza at 11pm at night. Not soon after we headed off to bed

Night two of the sleepover.

A Nice Saturday In Town!

Sat. September 29, 2018

I woke up early again which is a shocker but I need to get a sleep schedule going. My plan is to be in bed by 12am and up by 7:30 no matter what. I used to love this time frame in the past because it helped a lot with getting my writing done. The earlier I woke up, the sooner I got it done, the more time I could put into other things. Now it is different but I am confident that I can return to it.

Since I was up early I enjoyed 10 minutes of Dragon Ball Legends while I sat on the toilet listening to the water run for my morning brush. The game was being updated all day yesterday so I had a small withdrawal from not being able to play it. I literally play it every day without fail unless the game itself is not available. Crazy I know.

Sum it up.

I left the house by 8:30am to take my nice long drive to the café. Along the way I made a stop at Dunkin’ Donuts for a muffin and coffee. It had been a long time since I ordered one.

Dunkin’ also did something cool. They celebrated National Coffee Day by giving out a free cup of coffee with every purchase of one. I did not take advantage of the free cup since I was only one person but I appreciate them for offering it. Good job guys!

(photo found on Google images)

I made it to the café 10 minutes early. Thankfully too because I needed to prep for the day. I did not think I would need much but I wanted to keep things fresh.

Then out of nowhere I had a camera delivered to me by the son of the lady I work with. She told me she was going to buy one but I did not think I was for the café. It is smart though. Monitoring her space provides an extra level of comfort with leaving the equipment in the market.

Since her son was with me we hung out for a few minutes until he took his walk back to the high school that is 10 minutes away. An arts festival was being held on the school grounds for the weekend. She was invited to participate. If I did not have to man the café I would have been there as well.

Throughout the day I was back and forth cooking and prepping. I actually needed more food than I originally thought. On top of that I had to leave the café twice to provide some aid. Once to drop off rice and peppers and the other to meet her son half way up the street with half a case of water.

Around 6:45pm she and her son showed up with a box of dishes. Yay, I get to do something I really hate. But I sucked it up because she still had shopping to do for tomorrow, day 2 of the event, and I do not do them often. I am pretty sure tomorrow will make 3 days in a row. I really give her credit for doing them every day.

After finishing everything up I headed home a little after 9pm. It took longer than normal to clean up with the extra dishes. By 10:30 I was in the house taking a shower.

Before hitting the pillows, I wrote this.

I definitely need to lotion up more often. All of that soap and water does not do justice for my hands.

Cracked, Oiled & Crashed!

Wed. September 26, 2018

The day has come.

With my second off I planned to do what I could. Today I actually requested to have off so I could see my chiropractor. I had an appointment 2 weeks go but had to reschedule due to work. The day I originally requested for an appointment, my chiropractor was going on vacation. I was more than excited to see him today.

Out and about.

After visiting my doctor and getting cracked up, I stopped at the place with the best flavored coffee, Dunkin’ Donuts. Of course I had to get a pumpkin spice latte and waffle tenders. I think it is pretty crazy that I have been spending so much money in this one store almost every day. They really have a hold on my wallet.

Unfortunately, this specific location does not know how to handle their cooker very well. They overcooked the tenders making them not as tasty as they should have been. I have really become fond of these things so I was very disappointed.

Closer to home I decided to treated my father to McDonalds for breakfast. It was simple but something for him to munch on. I also stopped for expensive gas and went on a Pokémon GO! mission. I recently ranked up so I now have new challenges to complete. Exciting times.

I made it to the house by 12:50pm to jump on the computer. I needed to help my father fix our boiler today but I needed to make sure a bit of work was done first. In the middle of typing I remembered I needed something off of Amazon. Quickly, I ordered an HDMI switch because my desktop monitor only has two HDMI ports and I have another computer to connect now along with my PlayStation 4. Old monitor and not enough ports.

Finishing up with the blog I went to help my father repair an oil pipe that is connected to the boiler. After being down in the basement for a couple of hours the fumes started to get to us. They were so strong that as soon as we finished digging up the cement around the pipe we took a break for hours to detox in fresh air. We even had filtered masks on but the sent was too strong for them. In that time I watched a few episodes of “Blacklist.”

Not done.

To finish up the job completely we took a trip to Home Depot for the boiler line fittings. With the parts in hand the pipe could be fixed before bed.

On the way back home we stopped at Dunkin. For me it was a second time so I stayed in the car but he wanted to get a box of donuts and frozen drink. Back at the house we split up. He went to finish working on the boiler as I cooked us dinner.

While cooking my nephew came to play. He crawls super fast now so I can chase him all over the house and have him do the same to me. With his new found freedom I view it as a double edged sword. I love being able to play but now he gets into everything.

Done for the day.

My girlfriend came over for some quality time around 8pm. We had dinner and watched the first episode of season 2 on “The Good Doctor.” We have been waiting months for a new season and are extremely excited to have the show back.

Talk About Having A Busy Day!

Sat. September 22, 2018

Tough decision.

Woke up a bit later than normal. I was tired to the point that I thought about calling out. Then I remembered that I started a business a few weeks ago and a bit of money to get it going on the right track – LLC, copyright, trademark, product samples – would be helpful. With this new motivation in mind I rolled out of bed with eagerness. The more I can get done today the closer to our opening date we will be.

Bitmoji money Me

The moment I got to the café I went straight to work. I had a lot to do today that involved a variety of tasks. From my personal business to keeping the café active. I started off by cutting up a slew of items from sweet peppers to tofu. If everything is chopped up before I cook it makes the transition from dish to dish a lot easier.

After having my fun on the cutting board I cleaned up my mess and prepared to cook.

As my first two dishes cooked I decided grab myself some breakfast. Normally I would have gone with a bowl of yogurt and fruit but I was offered to try something new from Politi’s Cheeses & Meats. Not knowing what it was I said ‘yes.’ Frankly because I have yet to be disappointed by them.

Receiving the sandwich was a shocker. It was an egg-wich. If there is one breakfast item that I could avoid it would be eggs. The taste, no matter how it is cooked, never agrees with my palate. With that being said I tried it anyway. I am always open to the new.

Describing the sandwich would be easy. Chorizo, over medium egg, some kind of white cheese, maybe a bit of jam, paired with a delicious bun. It was incredibly good. For someone like me, who would not normally eat anything with an egg, to actually enjoy it, says enough.

Getting back to business.

My day at the café consisted of servicing and cooking. I must have cooked 15 pounds of rib-eye, 10 pounds of pork, 8 pounds of chicken and a small tray of tofu. This might sound like a dinner for 5 but for this café it was a lot. I was busy all day. No stopping for more than 45 minutes. I had my best day yet being in the market. It felt great!

The upsetting part. I could not make time, or fit in, working on my business or blog. There was no room in the day to pull out my laptop and iPad. But I was okay with it. Money spoke volumes.

Ending the night took hours.

In the middle of cleaning I had to leave so I could meet the lady I work with. She was 5 minutes away in the neighboring town parked outside of a deli because it was the only place she could find big enough to fit her trailer. I needed to pick up supplies for the next few days if I wanted to make money.

I was back at the café within a few minutes to finish cleaning. While washing the dishes a fire unit arrived. Then another along with police and a crowd of nosy people. Apparently a few stores over there was a gas leak. Not sure if that was true but they took a while figuring it out.

I was finished with everything by 9:30pm. With the fire trucks still parked out front taking up the entire street, my car was blocked in the parking lot with no way out. While I waited I sought the opportunity to tour the town.

One of the stops I made was to an ice cream parlor. I wanted to get ice cream while I waited but they had closed minutes before I arrived at their door. I would have made it if I did not stop to speak to a gentleman waiting to leave the same lot I was parked in. He had tried his best to go around one of the trucks but was denied exit.

Walking next door was a nick nack store. Since I had time to spare I figured I check out their merchandise. I always walked passed it but never actually entered. Going in I could see that a lot of the items were probably handcrafted. Very nice items. I even thought about getting something for my girlfriend but she was not interested.

Was it time?

By 10:20pm a few fire trucks had left leaving enough space to get by. After seeing two cars squeeze by, I was ready to attempt the same. Slowly making my way up the driveway I squeezed myself through. It was so glad to be on my way.

On the road I almost ran into a deer. The road I take is as dark as a black hole. Luckily I spotted them before they made their way across the road.

Home an hour later to work on my post for tomorrow. By 1am I was in bed only to wake up a few hours later to get ready for a big day.

It Is Good To Be Busy!

Fri. September 14, 2018

Early bird!

Learning from the past few days I set my alarm for an earlier time than normal. With kids back in school I now know the need to wake up 15 minutes earlier is important. With time I can sit in traffic worry free.

Just as I had planned I was ahead of schedule. Since I had the time to stop for breakfast I stopped at my usual Dunkin Donuts for a latte and apple fritter. The apple fritters they made last time was shaped like a small funnel cake. Today it was actually a closed up pastry. I seriously wonder if they have a set style or just do as they please. Like this Dunkin’ there are many other that make them differently. Interesting.

(photo found on Google images)

It was not as bad as I say.

My morning at the café was pretty busy. Not with business but with prep. I set up everything that I could while I waited for the lady I work with to bring me supplies. Yesterday I went through most of it and left myself nothing to work with this morning. Probably not the smartest move but I had no choice.

Just as I was getting ready to open up she arrived with a truck load of groceries. For a minute I did not think she would make it. I was certain I was going to have a delayed opening or sell what I could. Along with the groceries were bins of food ready to be served. This angle cooked before she got to me so I would not have to, allowing me to open up on time. The struggle of market vending when you run out of food.

An hour later I was left alone to tend to the café. For the first time, I was glad. I had a lot to do with the business and none of it should have been my focus.

I got carried away.

I started off by getting my blog set up. There were articles that I needed post which one of them was for the morning. Then I had to take a break so I could tend to the people at my counter. It was the faithful lunch rush that usually lasts from 12:30 – 2:30pm. But guess what happened? The food she had brought I ran through like flowing water.

The market is open an hour later, until 8pm, on Friday and Saturday so I had to make sure I had enough to go around. I needed to cook, a lot.

Juggling between customers, cooking, and keeping my space clean, left me with no time for anything else. I needed to work on the copyright clause for our logo but never did it. Instead, for some reason I have not thought of, I worked on the website. Yes it is important but getting the logo taken care of should have been priority. Writing this realization upsets me.

(photo found on Google images)

What also upset me was my lack of scheduling. I forgot to write down the Leadership School I attend every other month in my calendar. I missed it completely being reminded by mentor in the morning that it was today and tomorrow. Both days which I must work. I beat myself for this screw up. I hate not being there. I needed to be there, and yet I forgot about it. The disappointment I felt was almost sickening.

Tired from doing nothing.

By 9pm I was leaving. This is the latest I have left so far. Even the vendors who leave after me were walking out of the door asking me to lock up behind them. There was so much that needed to be done. At the end of the night cleaning the café may sometimes seem like an infinite task.

Hour and 10 minutes later I was home showering. Before getting in I threw a load of laundry in the washer machine. Tomorrow I will be on the truck at an oyster festival and needed clothes to work in. Laundry has not been a concern lately and looking around I really need to clean up. It’s starting to look like a college dorm again.

Too tired to do anything else I am not sure the clause will be written. Let’s see how the night goes.

Working Away From The Café !

Tues. September 4, 2018

The market is closed on Tuesdays.

Still have no idea why but it is. I had no complaints as I was able to sleep in until about 11am once again waking up with my body sore. Being on my feet for 10 hours throughout the day at the café has taken a toll on my body. I do have a seat available but it sits to low from the counter and people tend to miss me. Due to that I stand the whole day.

Since I did not have to leave for work until 2pm I worked on my post for tomorrow. Scheduled a new article about a young man doing big things at the age of 16 that seriously inspired me to get my butt in gear. Passive income is a long-term goal of mine and I have to find a way to make it happen.

After getting myself pumped up I took a break from the computer to do a few chores. The most important was laundry. I needed to wash the few pairs of jeans that I own that I wear when working at the café. Three of them are black and two are blue. I rotate the heck out of them.

While they washed I went and made myself breakfast. Not a usual one but more of snack. I had a corn muffin toasted with butter and then spread with jelly. A childhood favorite that I paired with the best cup of coffee I have made so far. Yum. To make the nostalgia even better I watched “Dragon Ball” as I ate which ended up immobilizing me from the other chores I needed to do. Once I was comfortable I did not move for the next 3 episodes. I really felt like I was 13 again.

If I did not have to leave I would have not.

On the road by 2:15pm on my way to meet the lady I work with. It was an easy ride today. I got to Hoboken within 40 minutes which does not usually happen. I even found free street parking which NEVER happens. I had luck on my side today.

Since I was early I walked over to Rite Aid to get a few things. I needed deodorant, razors, and Benadryl. Unfortunately, for me that store did no carry much. They did not have the deodorant use, or the razors I like and I completely forgot about the Benadryl. I walked out of there with a Voltage Mountain Dew. Not on the list whatsoever.

At the pier the lady I work with dropped off the groceries for today along with the meat I needed to cook. I had an hour not only to cook but clean the fryer, put the dishes away, put the groceries away, cut vegetables and clean up after myself when I finished. I was back and forth all over that truck. You would think I was running a marathon.

(photo found on Google images)

She came back around 4:30pm with more stuff. But this time she had food for me. Rice balls from Omusubi Gonbei in Mitsuwa. Oh, how I love them. To go with it she also bought me karaage which is essentially fried chicken, Japanese style.

(photo found on Google images)

Being a few days after Labor Day the pier was dead. According to one of the staff members, the person who has a clicker to keep count of the foot traffic, about 85 people entered the pier. We maybe saw 20 of them. For a 6 hour day that is nothing. That amount of people entering should be every two hours or one even. It was a sad night. But we were able to prepare for the café tomorrow. That’s good.

Early it was.

By 10pm we were over it. 10:41 I was in my car wiggling myself out of a very tight space. I thought parking on the corner would have made leaving easy but thanks to the jerk behind me I had to inch my way out. I hope he got a ticket for parking against the yellow line. That was mean but he deserves it.

I got home about 30 minutes later, showered, and was off to bed.
