Three Jobs in One Day!

Weds. June 27, 2018

I love kissing her goodbye.

Normally when I sleep over my girlfriends place she is the one waking up early for work. Today I have to be at work by 9 compared my normal 10:30 so I was awake way before her. This morning was going to be a busy one and I needed to prepare mentally.

Before getting into Jersey City I had to stop at Teixeira’s Bakery. Our schedule for today involved a triple – a lunch shift, a catering and a dinner shift. The catering required three dozen custard cups because of how much they love them. Ever since we first introduced them to the little cups of joy they have been hooked. Honestly those little desserts are amazing so I understand.

Lunch first.

I got to Lincoln Park, when our first event was being held, about 15 minutes late. We were a three man team – the lady I work with, her son and me – so I was not too worried about it. When I went to pick up the order, the oven was already in the process of baking something. I had to wait for 10 minutes for it to finish before the hoagie rolls were going to be cooked. During that time I took a walk around to the front of the building to get a cappuccino. Instead of wasting time why not purchase a delicious drink to help get the day going.

At the park, we participated in Brain Health & Wellness Fair. We were to vend for the locals who came out to support. It was for a good cause but I think during a bad time. It started at 10am on a Wednesday and ended at 2. Not many people are off of work during those hours so the crowd was nothing more than senior citizens and the other vendors. I think it would have been a bit more successful if the event were pushed back to when families are actually together instead of separated by work and school. Who knows?

Special delivery!

Around 11:30am, I left to make the deliver for our catering. The ride there was bumpy. There was not a single street I took that did not involve a dip or bump. By the time I got to the building to drop off their order things had spilled. I got to the place with my car smelling like a mixture of things. It was a tasty smell but one that I am confident will linger for a while. On the way back to the park I stopped at 99 Ranch to get a few items for our dinner shift. While walking out I picked up a few drinks for the three us from the place I love dearly, Coco: Fresh Tea & Juice.

Back at the park I was there for about 30 minutes before I decided to close up. Her son and I were not doing anything but getting annoyed. The two of us had enough. The lady I work with stepped out for a bit to use the bathroom. She had to go badly so she borrowed my car and left. The porta potty at the park was beyond nasty. I used it when I first got there because it was either that or poop on myself but when she had to use it no human should have stepped foot anywhere near them. Somehow someone missed the toilet by a mile. When she got back we were ready to leave.

3pm. Sayonara!

We were on our way to the dinner location. Surprisingly it was about a block away from Pier 13. Our usual Friday night gig. We parked in front of the building sometime around 330 and left on foot to tour the town for food. We were hungry but the only options were pizza, pizza, bagels, pizza or bagels. When we finally came across something different we entered.

Were we decided to sit down was at Elysian in Hoboken. It is a modern French bistro with decor that, in my opinion, was a bit creepy. It had a Catholic feel to it with children angles on the ceiling doing various acts, rustic designs in between and countryside wallpaper. I am weird so I liked it but it was still creepy. The food was amazing though. I had a chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado and really thick slices of bacon. I could not believe how good it was. For my first time eating there, I hope it won’t be my last.

Dinner anyone?

Back at the building we parked at, we got ready for our shift. It was short one from 5:30 – 8:30pm. It was our first time there so we did not know what to expect. Well it blew our minds. We were actually consistently busy. Busier than I thought we would be. I think if the building advertised for us a bit more it could have been better. I do blame it partially on the weather be it drizzled off and on so I am sure people just did not want to come out.

The moment 8:30 came around I started to pack up. I knew we would get stragglers but I wanted to get home to my lady. The quicker I rushed us, the better the chance of leaving before 9:30.

It worked…somewhat.

We left a bit after but I got to my lady’s house by 10:15pm. I sat in the driveway writing this while I waited for her to show up. I did not see her car so I knew she was not home yet. The moment I got half way through this she pulls up. Her ability to scan the area is not the well. As I waited on the stairs for her to exit the car I scared her. She did not look around before exiting and I was not supposed to be home so soon. But I think it was a good surprise.

Up in her apartment we talked for a few minutes until I left her in the kitchen to shower. I needed to wash up before I ate but my stomach is still upset at the same time. After my shower I went to straight to bed. There was no way that food was going into my system.

Half Day of Work, Then Play!

Tues. June 26, 2018

I slept a lot better last night.

Normally when I sleep over my girlfriends house we each have separate blankets. Not that I do not like sharing a blanket but I sleep more comfortable with with an actual pillow and of my own blanket. The night before I wanted to try sleeping under the same quilt but it did not work out. I love to cuddle with her but I need to have a blanket or pillow in between my legs. For some reason doing that allows me to sleep 10x better.

I woke up at 7:30 this morning to an arm around my chest. For 10 minutes we laid like that until I tapped her several times to get ready for work. Every minute she stayed in bed was cutting it close to her being late. While she got ready I peeked from under the T-shirt I had covering my eyes. I was trying to hide my face from the sun. I saw her trying to put cream on her back and missing several spots. She was at the  beach yesterday and  failed at putting sun block on certain parts of her body leaving her back and chest red and on fire. From under the covers I came out to help. With a gentle touch I spread the cream across her back.

8am. She was gone and I still had a half an hour to sleep.

Before I knew it the time had went past my half an hour to 45 minutes. I was a sleep for longer than I needed to be but it felt good. I got dressed immediately, did my hair and left. I needed to get breakfast before I met the lady I work with. I cannot start my day without something in my stomach.

At Dunkin Donuts I picked up breakfast for the both of us. I figured we should both have something to fuel our systems. Beside that I do not treat her often and thought it would be nice. I bought a bacon, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel for her and got myself an apple fritter. (Normally I do not eat at that other Dunkin Donuts than the one by the office so the fritter from here was not what I was expecting, but it was good. Should they all have the same recipe?

Shopping!

Around 10:15am I was sitting in the lot of a Marshalls. It was across from the building we were going to be working at. While I waited I figured a little shopping would not hurt. While I was looking around she sent me a text saying she needed more time. I had no problem with that. I definitely took more time. In the fitting room with me were 2 pairs of shorts, 1 pair of pants and a button up T-shirt. The shirt was the only thing I liked. On the way out I also picked up a magnetic phone holder for my car. I have been meaning to get one but somehow always forget when I enter a store.

When I got to the car I realized the phone holder was not that great of a choice. It is one of those holders that must be placed in the vent. My car is small that everything seems squished together. With the holder in the vent it blocks my radio slightly. I am not to worried about because my radio has a remote but it might be inconvenient. I will have to try it on the road to be sure.

11am. Ready to be done as soon as possible.

By the time I got to the lady I work with she was already setting up. She said ‘take your time’ and I did, a little too much. Looking the phone holder took more time that picking out the shirt and trying it on. There were so many accessories to look through and I so determined to find it that time was not an issue during that time. But better late than never.

The service turned out to be okay. It was not as big as being on the pier but it was enough for us to be comfortable being there. We did expect to do more but I think that is more of a ‘I want a million dollar day’ thing.

3pm. The rest of the day is mine!

We were done for lunch with no dinner shift lined up. The rest of the day was free. I have no idea what she was going to do but I had plans.

I went straight home to shower up and get ready for dinner. I would have gone to my girlfriends house instead but the only clothes I had there were for work. I expected to be running doubles all week leaving me with no time for fun. My girlfriend and I planned to go out for dinner with her sister. The place was not decided at the time but we definitely wanted to go out.

I was so excited to have my new shirt from earlier that I put an outfit together right away. Grey pants, the new coral and grey shirt and light grey with red trimming slip-ons. I even wore red dress socks for the full effect.

5:30pm. Almost time.

Back on the road in traffic. I avoided it earlier but could not now. I got to my girlfriends house by 6. A lot later than I anticipated. For a bit over an hour we sat around watching TV while her sister worked on a report.

By 8:30pm we were sitting at a restaurant called Cuban Pete’s ready to put food in our systems. It had been months since I have eaten there so I went with the classic meal, ropa vieja. This is dish with shredded or pulled stewed beef with vegetables, paired with a side of white rice and sweet plantain. A meal for kings.

Walking on a full stomach…

After enjoying our meals we headed to Walmart. We head to pick up a few things for the house. Dog pads, aloe gel, soap, etc. I had the important items like cereal and milk in the cart. The rest was up to the sisters.

We were so stuffed that we could not wait to go home. The fact that we left right after eating instead of digesting was not smart. I had such a knot in my stomach that I had to sit down on whatever I could every few minutes. My stomach felt like a rock. As if I had grown a six pack in a matter of minutes. I was dying from the pain.

Back at the house I went straight to the room. In the middle of trying to undress I had to lay down in the floor to rest. Moving hurt to much. Not even the ginger ale helped.

By 11:45 we were in bed.

P.S.

I had to rub aloe vera gel all over my girlfriends back. It was so bad that with every little light touch she jumped from pain. It was horrible but funny.

Nights With The Woman I Love!

Mon. June 25, 2018

So for this week I will be spending a few nights with my girlfriend at her house. I forgot my laptop so posting might  be a bit difficult to do. I have my iPad but I have not really used it for WordPress except for checking my stats and comments. Hopefully things do not look to weird and unorganized.

Go time!

I woke up today around 8:30am to sun rays beaming through her window. She’s the type of person who loves to wake up to a bunch of sun. I am completely different. For me, waking up in the dark is the best. But what I really enjoyed was waking up to the sight of my loves face. I do not get to do this often and getting the opportunity makes me happy.

I had to be at work by 10:30. My girlfriend was already on her way out of the door to the beach. As I laid in bed I was filled with jealousy. Just like yesterday, the dog Max, she will be splashing around at the beach while I sweat my tail off in today’s heat. I have been dying to dip in a pool, a lake, the ocean, basically any water outside of my tub. As much as I wanted to skip work I was out the door around 9:15am. I had to stop at Teixeira’s Bakery to pick up the normal order of hoagie rolls and custard cups.

Since I spent the night at my girlfriend’s house there was nothing that I normally eat in her cabinets. Usually for breakfast I would have a bowl of cereal, oatmeal or bread but today I could not find the oatmeal or milk. I did find cereal but without the milk it is not as fun. So after picking up the order from the bakery I stopped a Dunkin Donuts that was two blocks away. I thought I would get a hearty breakfast by ordering a chicken ciabatta sandwich but apparently they do not sell them anymore. I was actually very sad because their other sandwiches have eggs which I am not a fan of. My only option was to settle for hash browns and a frozen pistachio coffee.

This is it!

On my way to Jersey City the traffic was great. It was clear as day with no one to fight for a lane. I got to the building we park in front extremely on time by 10am. To my surprise the lady I work with showed up 15 minutes after. Our arranged time to meet was 10:30am. Normally when she says a time I know to give her an extra few minutes. Today I needed the time because my hash browns weren’t even eaten by the time she pulled in. Sheesh.

The moment she parked we started. We setup everything, got ourselves situated and prepared to do good business. Throughout our day we served more here than we have in a month. It shocked us. We were probably missed by everyone since it has been so long since we were there. We saw the friendly faces we normally do and even old faces that have not been around. It was nice.

Then the good bad news came.

I thought it was going to be an early day and I would be making my home to my lady. That thought was premature. A spot opened up on Pier 13 and we were invited, suggested, to make our way over for a dinner shift. She just could not turn it down. Honestly I would not want her to even turn down business on my behalf. Unfortunately, I had cancel on spending the night with my lady. It was sad but I could not leave the lady I work with to run it by herself.

We made it to the pier a half an hour after closing up in Jersey City. The night started off very slow. We prepped, ate, cleaned and then all of a sudden BAM! We were hit with a massive line that did not let up for about an hour. On top of that everyone wanted the same thing so it took extra time to serve the people that were waiting. But most of them were patient and understanding.

Being a Monday night we were able to finish up early. Unlike Friday the pier closes at 10pm. I was packing up the moment I saw that number on the clock. We cleaned up nicely and by 11 we were on the road. 45 minutes later I was sitting in my girlfriends driveway writing this. How will the night end?

P.S.

It ended with a shower and sleep.

I Should Get A Dog!

Sun. June 24, 2018

9:15am. Time to get going!

This morning I had to meet the lady I work with at her house. We had a catering to do and from my house it was a distance. I do not mind driving but places that take more than an hour to get to, I would rather have a ride for.

To meet with her I left the house around 10:15. When pulled into her driveway I still 5 minutes on the clock to spare. I could tell she was already set to go with the only thing needing to be to done was connect the hitch. After connecting it we got in truck and took off. The place we were going to be catering was about 50 minutes away from her house. We were invited to help celebrating a birthday I believe or maybe graduation. We were here once before 2 years ago for the eldest child. We had a great time last year and expected nothing less this time.

Party time!

Throughout the party I was jealous of a very happy dog named Max. He is a black Labrador and a very playful one for his age. It was cool watching him jump in and out of the pool whenever the heat got to him. All I could think about was how cold or warm the water must have been. I wanted to jump in with him every time. He would also grab his ball, run around with it in his mouth and drop it in front of people with the hope that they would kick it. That made me want to play fetch with him because I saw how good he was at it. If I could have, Max and I would have had fun all day.

We were not there too long, only a few hours. From 12 to 3:30pm was our scheduled time to be there. As usual timing is not our strong suit. People were hungry and we could not just deny them. It took us about 20 minutes just to close up. By 4:30 we were completely cleaned up and, on our way, back to her house. When we there I help her unload, had a very short conversation with her son (pretty much just slapped his hand saying ‘what’s up’) and took off home.

Get ready for a sleepover.

On my way home all I can think about was how great it was that I had the rest of the day to do what I felt. Since I have been business for the past two weeks, I have not seen my girlfriend. I figured that was the best course of action for the rest of the day. So, after a nice cool shower I packed a bag and I got ready to leave. I even considered were we should have dinner.

When I called her to let her know I was going over I was sadly disappointed. Her and her sister had already ordered Chinese food. Normally I would be excited to have some but today I wanted to be a little healthier. I wanted to go to a restaurant or diner but instead I ended up getting Wendy’s along the way. My dinner turned out to be a spicy chicken sandwich with no mayo, four piece nuggets with barbecue sauce, medium fries, and a berry cherry fruit tea. (From the website: Organic Honest® Tropical Green Tea hand shaken with real cherry and blueberry puree and strawberries.)

Before getting to my girlfriend’s house I made a stop at my grandmother’s house. Recently my uncle and my mother has been emptying out the house since it has been vacant since my grandmother’s passing. My mother had a dream the other day that somebody was living in it and it freaked her out. I had to check on it just to make sure the house had no unwanted guests. She has been asking me to pass by for a while now but I have been so busy that I never had the chance to. My girlfriend lives down the street, about 2 or 3 blocks, so it was the perfect opportunity.

8pm. Made it!

Finally, at my girlfriend’s house I gave her the biggest hug and kiss you can possibly think of. Right after I gave her dog a few good scratches since I have not seen him in a while and missed his face. I also greeted her sister who I obviously have not seen either. It was like a family reunion after 5 years. Then I sat down to eat because I was starving. Which by the way turned out to be better than I thought. Even though I wanted to actually go out and have something, this made my evening.

The rest of the night from about 9 to 11pm we hung out in bed and relaxed. Even watched TV and talked. I think by 11:45 I was actually in ready to sleep compared to all the other days where I am usually in sleeping by 1:30am. It felt so good to be early.

P.S.

I did wake up an hour after I fell asleep. I guess my body was not used to sleeping so early.
