Here It Comes Again!

April 24, 2018

Getting up was a challenge.

On top of going to bed late I had to wake up early for work. I tried my best to get up at 7:45am but my eyes and body would not budge. I slept until 8:35 but it was not enough. If I could stay home I would sleep all day to recharge my body.

I even woke up feeling sick, AGAIN. Runny nose, sore throat, and feeling heavy. In my attempt to feel better I made a cup of ginger honey tea. With the temperature changing so frequently lately I think my body has not been able to keep up. Instead of having cereal for breakfast I thought an actual semi-healthy meal would be better so I made Quakers raisin oatmeal for the drive to work.

Speaking about the weather change, it is a nice day out. Warmer than I expected it to be but not enough to leave the jacket at home.

I worked close to home today.

Usually to get to the location it would take me about 25 minutes. For some reason at 9:30 in morning people were still on the road making their ways to work. I am use to being one of the few cars at this time so it caught me off guard. It took me a little over half an hour to get through traffic arriving a few minutes after 10.

Today was a joint operation with 4 other businesses. We were at an office complex with buildings ranging from A – D. As beautiful as the day was, before even beginning I knew we would be busy. Even knowing that I was not prepared for what came. In a half an hour, 30 minutes, we were overrun by the hungry office workers. Between my sluggish body and volume of people it was rough. Literally from 12 – 12:30pm we worked the most. The remaining hour and a half we serviced the stragglers who worked though their lunch.

Last year we were invited to serve these buildings but the weather was below 40 degrees, windy and we were moved into the middle of a parking lot where no one was brave enough to walk to. This time we were in a small blocked off section right by the cafeterias back door. Perfect spot.

Around 330 I was headed home.

Got home within a half an hour feeling good from working but horrible health wise. I get sick once a year but this is now the second time. Either I am getting older or I need to eat healthier. As I showered I tried to give myself a steam bath. Steam helps clear the congested parts of the body allow for a free passage of air. It worked at the time but it seemed I was more congested than I thought. The moment the steam went away I my nose stock piled. Not good!

After my failed attempt to clear up my sinuses I decide to work on the throat. I made myself another cup of tea this time with lemon Halls cough drop. Relief was minor but it made me feel good. Around 6pm I could not tolerate being awake anymore so I set an alarm and took a nap. I must have been more tired than I thought because I slept through two alarms for an extra hour. I did not wake up until 8:30 when I subconsciously was expecting my alarm to go off.

I could not believe I slept through two alarms.

Finally up, I went to the kitchen to make another cup of tea. That makes three for the day but I need a lot more. I believe that natural tea is a great remedy for almost anything internally off. Whether it be a cold or upset stomach the first thing I try is a cup of tea.

While I drank I finished my edits from last night. I only had to review so it was quick and easy. At 11pm I decided to play Fortnite with my friends. It had been a week or so since our last gaming session so it felt good to relax with them. By 12:30 I was finished and in bed ready for some more sleep.

Time Is A Virtual!

April 23, 2018

I woke at the usual time, 7:45, but so comfortable that I stayed in bed until 8.

For 15 minutes all I could think about was my position and if I could lay like that again. Sometimes it is good to think about the now and not focus on the later. For those 15 minutes I did not worry about getting to work, what I should eat, what time I would be or anything like that. Just the position in which my body laid.

When I did get up my day started. I found clothes to put on, did my hair and had cereal for breakfast.

Around 9:30 I left my house to begin my journey into Jersey City. Along the way I stopped at Teixeira’s Bakery to get hoagie rolls and custard cups. They were not ordered for pickup so I was able to stand in line and greet all of the women that work hard to keep the bakery moving. If an order is place in advance I do not get see them so it was nice. I was even able to finally get the cappuccinos I wanted last week but could not because there was no parking available.

In Jersey City and soaking up the sun.

Weather like this is always great for business. From 10:30am – 2:30pm we were busy servicing new customers and catching up with our regulars. With the weather finally breaking over 62 degrees and the sun included, everyone was out taking walks. The nicer it is the more people come out to see what is going on. Those 4 hours seemed like 2. Time went by quick!

The lady I work with and I left around 2:45.

Before heading to her dinner location, we made a few stops to restock on miscellaneous things we were missing. As I followed behind her in my car I had an amazing Cuban sandwich from a food truck called, Cubano Express. They started a new recipe and doubled the meat making the sandwich’s impact even greater. So good!

Our first stop was to 99 Ranch. This week’s deals were great so we stocked up on several items. On the way I had to get myself something to drink from Coco Fresh. Today I went with a classic milk tea with lychee jelly instead of the tapioca balls. Afterwards we went to Jetro, a restaurant supply store, for plastic gloves, boxes and other things. As we were paying she received a phone call from a good friend who we have not seen in a while. It was good to know that he was alive and well, with big new plans for the future of his business.

Before heading to our dinner location, The Beacon, we stopped for gas a couple of blocks away. As the lady I work with was waiting in line for the person in front of her finish, she was cut off by a lady who seemed to be in a rush. At first, I was shock to have witness it but then I understood why. The lady was very impatient because she desperately needed $3 of gas and did not want to wait her turn to get it. With gas prices as high as they are I doubt she will make it too far.

Finally, at The Beacon around 5pm and ready to get going. A nice day turned into a crazy windy one with temperatures dropping quickly. Luckily, we have a very faithful customer base so the flow of the night was steady. Usually I do not work this shift but I was glad too. The apartment complex was once a medical center so by being there I can feel its history.

We stayed until 9pm.

I was home by 10 exhausted. Before winding down I checked in with my nephew to see how he was doing. He had a doctor’s appointment early getting two shots in his thighs. Plus, he has more teeth coming in on the tops now so he was not a happy baby. But he was taken to the park for the first time after his appointment. My sister thought with the day being so nice it was about time he got to experience it. She even invites my girlfriend to join her. Too bad I had to work all day but I am glad they had a good time.

After talking to my girlfriend about her day and editing a few papers time had gotten the best of me. I did not lay my head on my pillow until 2 in the morning. My exhaustion is what made me call it a night. I partly fell asleep at my desk not even knowing I was still sitting up. Work in the morning is going to be interesting.

Manage your sleep better!

Keeping Busy!

April 22, 2018

After going to bed late, I surprise myself.

I actually woke up this morning after going to a party last night. Shorting myself sleep is usually like kryptonite but for reason today was different. I woke up at 8:15am, only getting 6 hours of sleep. For a lot of people is this normal but, in my case, it drags me down. I think my excitement to start the day overwrote the absence of rest.

I had 45 minutes to get ready between brushing my teeth, getting dressed, doing my hair and eating. For work I had to drive about an hour north so leaving on time was a must. Normally I would warm up my car for a few minutes before taking long drives, because in my head it runs better, but that did not work out so well today. For the past month the remotes for my car have been dying slowly. I believe one or two buttons work on each remote. Today I realized the remote start button finally gave up on both controls. The worst part is, I cannot find a replacement.

But the weather is nice again and better than yesterday.

I left my house at 9 for work. It seemed like a pretty easy trip but ended up turning into a small nightmare. I decided to go the toll-less route because it was only a 10 minute difference and I had left sooner than needed. I ended up getting lost on the turnpike because of the confusing exits. I used this highway maybe once a year so my experience is not great. I had to pay the toll twice just to get back on track.

I got the location at 10:15 when the original projected time was 9:55. I am glad that today we were a three man team so me being late was not bad. The lady I work with brought her teenage son to help us. We were part of a fund raiser that was projected to have over 300 people attend. They even pre-booked the event using a ticket system and sold more upon entry. There were six food trucks, a few vendors and small outdoor games for everyone to enjoy. As exciting as it sounds were arrived way too early. The event was not planned to start until 1 which meant we were 3 hours early. The coordinators thought it would be a great idea to have us but it was more time than we needed.

While we waited I was able to catch up with her son. Thanks to Spotify he introduced me to an album from an artist I like, “KOD” by J. Cole. He even gave me a present he bought during his trip to Japan. A key chain or cell phone tag of a character from my favorite anime, “Sword Art Online.” Thank you!

The 3 hour wait went by fast.

As soon as 1pm hit the foot traffic increased drastically. We were very steady and provided the best service possible. The people at the event were enthusiastically engaged in the activities and food which made it fun. We even had a couple of return for more. It was a great service!

The three of us packed up at 5pm swiftly.

The fund raiser was held at an all-female high school. As quick as everyone stepped onto the lot is as fast as they left. We were able to leave by 5:30 without a hitch. To make things even easier, going home was a breeze. It is Sunday and there is no traffic.

On the way home, I get a text message from my mother asking me to get her something to eat on the way home. After an indecisive phone conversation, she decided on a hamburger from Five Guys. I am not a burger fan but I love milkshakes. One banana flavored to go!

Home by 7:15 with a massive headache that lingered since lunch. I showered up running the water on my head hopping to alleviate some pain. It did not work but I could not worry about it. I was spending the night with my girlfriend so I pushed on out the door by 8:30pm.

I made a few stopped along the way.

My best friend was also gifted a keychain so I made his house my first stop. It was supposed to be a simple drop off but lasted 15 minutes. He recently acquired a PS4 Pro, God of War edition, and I had to see it. He would not let me go until I played Call of Duty in 60 fps (frames per second). Holy crap was it clear and smooth. Truly amazing technology. Before leaving I packed up his old PC to take home. It died a few months back so I’m going to try and fix it.

Next stop was my grandparents’ house. I had to collect the mail so it would not pill up in the mailbox. Finally making it to my girlfriend house where I was able to listen in on the conference line and have dinner.

On my way back home around 12.

Last week when my girlfriend was supposed to get my nephew, which did not work out, so my sister had given up her house keys. I went to get said house keys today but did not plan on returning them until tomorrow. Unfortunately, my sister was locked out with my nephew so I race home to let them in. Cannot have my nephew out there so late.

The Night Continues The Day!

April 21, 2018

I stayed up to late last night.

Usually I am good at timing myself before bed especially when I have to wake up early. Last night I barely looked at the clock. I woke up super late this morning. I set my alarm to 7:15 and did not get up until 7:40. There was no time to waste.

I had 30 minutes to get myself going. Brushed my teeth, did my hair, got dressed, and ate. After everything I still left late. The only way to make up for lost time was to be one with the road.

I made it!

The lady I work with and me meet up at her house to head to a food truck festival that started at 11:30. I made it to her by 9 and we were on the road a half hour later. Before getting to the festival location we stopped for some coffee at a gas station Dunkin’ Donuts because we have a minor addiction. There were six different trucks, including us, ranging from dinner to dessert. With the food selection and sunny sky, it was a guaranteed good time.

We ended service around 4pm with a blast. On the way back, we made a pit stop at a Costco that was right off of the highway. After going through most of our supplies we needed to get a few things for tomorrow. We have another event to be part of, a fund raiser, at an all-females high school. Now I do not usually shop in Costco but they have some interesting things and everything is party sized. Just walking around made me consider getting a membership.

Always us the bathroom before taking long drives.

We got back to her house around 5 so I could get my car. According to the GPS I had a 35 minute drive home. During the whole ride I had a full bladder. I meant to use the bathroom before leaving but between talking and bringing the food inside I forgot. It only dawned on me when I hit a pothole and felt the urge. The whole ride home all I could think about was using the bathroom. To make matters worse I had cotton mouth and really needed something to drink.

I was home by 6:40pm running straight to the bathroom. The relief from releasing that pressure was almost erotic.

The night was still young!

It is Saturday night! A good friend of my girlfriend and me was having a birthday party. No matter how much I wanted to stay in, I also wanted to go. So, I did the thing you do when the water is running and showered. After showering I took an hour to wash clothes. I have a long week and needed to make sure I had enough clothes to last me. While they washed I got dressed, realizing it was 10pm and the chances of me coming home to schedule tomorrows post was slim to not happening. So, before I left I sat down for 20 minutes to get it set.

I left my house at 10:30 to head for the party. The persons house was 15 minutes away from me. Very convenient since I was lazy to drive. When I got there almost everyone had a head start. Out of the entire night the best part was having a conversation with a good friend. I had not seen him in a couple of months and it felt good to catch up.

Back home once again but late, 1:15am.
